Sarah Rostron A PRIMARY school has proved it really is a class act. St Bede CE Primary, in Morris Green, has won two prestigious TES awards, widely recognised to be one of three top education awards in the country. The school won the early years setting of the year award, while headteacher Sarah Rostron won headteacher of the year. Staff at St Bede CE Primary Academy, said judges, understand both the role of parents and the community in young children’s lives, something they say really impressed them. While staff admit that their school may not be big, shiny and new, they take pride in having “a heart that beats strong to support the families and children”. ....
HOUSEHOLDS in Burton and Winkton have been helping to spread some Christmas cheers among the community by creating advent boxes in the windows of their homes. Members of the Burton and Winkton community group on Facebook were asked to decorate a window or portion of their house in festive decorations and, in the style of an advent calendar, a new window is revealed every day. Sarah Bagshaw, who has organised the community initiative in Burton and Winkton, took inspiration from her co-worker Kirsten Watson at The Arnewood School in New Milton who has organised a similar initiative in her village. ....
