1 dead, 1 hospitalized after car crashes into tree: Warrick Sheriff View Comments BOONVILLE, Ind. A driver died after their car left the roadway and struck a tree Thursday evening, according to Warrick County authorities. Warrick County Sheriff Michael Wilder said the single-vehicle crash happened before 7 p.m. on Rockport Road past Pelzer Road, just outside Boonville city limits. Wilder said bystanders saw the vehicle just before they heard the impact of the crash, but there were no eyewitnesses. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. A juvenile passenger was taken to an Evansville hospital, according to Warrick County Coroner Sarah Seaton. The extent of their injuries is unknown. ....

The University and College Union (UCU) said there was “emphatic support” from members in the ballot, with just under 70% of those who voted willing to take strike action and 84% backing action short of a strike. Staff have been warned of up to 145 compulsory redundancies across five academic departments and three professional services departments, though that number is thought to have dipped slightly because of voluntary departures. ....
