Sale - the club is set to be sold off The site of a former sailing club is set to go under the hammer for £700,000 – with the land likely to become seafront homes in the future. The former Chapman Sands Sailing club in Eastern Esplanade, Canvey is being sold for residential development and is set to go to auction next week. The club, which had been run on the half-acre sight for 52 years, folded in 2019 after a disagreement with Castle Point Council over the cost of the lease.
