2-vehicle collision occurred on Central Road in Apple Valley

A 57-year-old driver of a Mazda 6 was killed in Apple Valley after he crossed into an opposite lane of traffic and crashed into a Jeep Wrangler on Wednesday evening, authorities said.
The two-vehicle crash occurred shortly before 7 p.m. near the intersection of Powhatan and Central roads, the San Bernardino County Sheriff s Department said. Deputies, as well as personnel from the Apple Valley Fire Protection District and American Medical Response responded to the scene.
Authorities believe the deceased man, who was headed south on Central Road, crossed into the northbound lane for reasons that are under investigation and collided with the Jeep head-on.

Despite life-saving measures at a local hospital, a 65-year-old man died Friday after he was involved in a traffic collision on Bear Valley Road in Victorville, authorities said.
The Victorville Sheriff s Station Major Accident Investigation Team said the unidentified man attempted to turn east onto Bear Valley Road from Industrial Boulevard when his driver s side was hit by a second vehicle traveling west on Bear Valley Road.
After receiving a call at about 5:40 a.m. Friday, deputies and Victorville Fire Department personnel arrived at the scene and began performing CPR on the senior driver from Victorville, sheriff’s authorities said.

A roadside cross erected Easter Sunday on Mariposa Road pays tribute to Anthony Rhoades, a Hesperia High School graduate and political enthusiast who died in a car crash Saturday in Victorville.
“My family and I visited the accident scene on Saturday and I knew that I had to start constructing a cross for my cousin,” said Kenneth Jeremy Rhoades, 32, of Oceanside. “Losing Anthony has been devastating to all of us, but we’re doing all we can to move forward.”
Kenneth Rhoades told the Daily Press on Monday that Anthony Rhoades 15-year-old son, Aiden, and brother-in-law, Ray Reyes, helped design and construct the cross that now sits among flowers and candles.
