Hong Kong, May 18 (ANI): Amid worsening cross-strait relations, Hong Kong s office in Taiwan is being officially closed from Tuesday.
Citing sources, South China Morning Post (SCMP) reported that the decision to close the Hong Kong Economic, Trade and Cultural Office (Taiwan) with immediate effect was made by the Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Bureau that is in charge of the relationship between the city and Taipei.
The office was opened in December 2011 with the primary role of promoting business and cultural exchanges between Hong Kong and Taiwan. ....

The mother of murder victim Poon Hiu-win, who has asked not to be named, sent a pink suitcase to the man accused of killing her daughter.

On Christmas in Hong Kong last year, Reverend Peter Koon Ho-ming received a surprise gift – a pink suitcase similar to the one that Taiwanese police found three years ago containing the body of a pregnant woman.
The suitcase was sent by the mother of Poon Hiu-wing, as a reminder that Koon must get her alleged killer, Chan Tong-kai, to surrender to authorities on the self-ruled island as soon as possible. ....

Taiwanese authorities have been urged to issue a visa to murder suspect Chan Tong-kai on humanitarian grounds so he could turn himself in for killing his girlfriend there in 2018.
The call was made on Tuesday by Reverend Peter Koon, who has been helping Chan over the case.
Koon told the media that their legal team in Taiwan has contacted the authorities there many times, informing them of Chan s willingness to travel to the island to surrender himself. ....
