Co-angler dies at Rayburn Toyota Series event Thursday, April 29, 2021    Major League Fishing confirmed Thursday afternoon that a co-angler competing in this week s Toyota Series event at Sam Rayburn Reservoir in Texas died after falling from a boat. The MLF press release stated that the boat was not running at the time of the fall. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) recovered the body of the deceased co-angler Thursday afternoon. The incident is currently under investigation by the TPWD and San Augustine County officials. Officials have not yet released the name of the deceased angler. MLF will provide more information as it becomes available.

TPWD IDs fishing tournament angler who fell overboard By Carrie Provinsal | April 30, 2021 at 9:10 AM CDT - Updated April 30 at 9:25 AM SAN AUGUSTINE COUNTY, Texas (KTRE) - The San Augustine County game warden reports the angler who fell overboard on Sam Rayburn Lake during the MLF Series tournament has been identified. Thursday at approximately 10:05 a.m., Pete Spencer Lammons Jr., 77, of Houston, fell overboard while fishing in the tournament on Sam Rayburn Reservoir near the San Augustine Park area. Attempts were made to rescue Lammons by his fishing partner but were unsuccessful, according to warden Travis Fountain. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, (TPWD), reports Fountain, along with wardens Austin Cryer and Doug Williams, found Lammons by using side-scan sonar of Sam Rayburn Lake.

Co-angler who died was ex-NFL player Friday, April 30, 2021    MLF revealed today that the co-angler who died Thursday after falling from a non-running boat at the Sam Rayburn Toyota Series event in Texas was 77-year-old Pete Spencer Lammons of Houston. Lammons was an experienced co-angler – the tournament was his 57th with the organization. His best finish was a 3rd-place showing in a BFL at Rayburn in 2019. He was also a former NFL player – a tight end for the New York Jets from 1966-72. His tenure with the team included the Jets upset victory over the Baltimore Colts in Super Bowl III in 1969. He was selected to the Pro Bowl following the 1967 campaign and finished his career with 185 receptions for 2,364 yards and 14 touchdowns.

The bills would require governing bodies who make decisions over locations for commercial oil and gas disposal facilities to include a history of flooding in the past ten years before the construction of a pit, as a factor to determine if the location of the pit is allowed.
