Marymount of Santa Barbara Changes Name to The Riviera Ridge School


The school was formally designated as a coeducational day school in 1976. 
The new name embodies the school’s academic programs, particularly its Kaleidoscope program that prioritizes the study of historical, cultural, ethical and moral perspectives through a reflective view of world religions. 
“This school, as it has evolved over the years, 90% of our current population are not Catholic students and do not choose our school for Catholicism,” Broderick said. “But they do choose us for our world religions and comparative religions program called Kaleidoscope, and our social and emotional learning component, which has been here since 2007.”
At this time, officials are not considering changes to the school colors of blue and white, or changes to the mascot, the Mustangs, Broderick said. ....

A homeowner on Santa Barbara s Riviera cut down four trees without a city permit on Saturday, sparking a backlash in the neighborhood and furor among city officials.

Lodge was married to former Santa Barbara County Superior Court Judge Joseph Lodge, and they raised four daughters. Lodge s husband s died 12 years ago.
