MONTREAL Health Minister Christian Dube said Monday that overflow in Quebec s emergency rooms will continue for a few more months. We re paying a bit of a price for the pandemic, said Dube. Over the past weekend, Quebecers were asked to avoid emergency rooms as much as possible at Maisonneuve-Rosemont Hospital and Santa Cabrini Hospital both located on the eastern part of the Island of Montreal Island. Dube said the hospitals have practically reached their maximum capacity. At the end of June, it was learned that the Baie-Saint-Paul hospital s emergency hours would be limited during the summer. Dube said Quebecers will have to live with these types of situations for the next few months. ....
MONTREAL The manslaughter trial of a woman accused of stabbing her boyfriend to death two years began on Monday. In her opening statement, Crown prosecutor Jasmine Guillaume told the jury that 27-year-old Sabrina Rose Dufour had a toxic relationship with 24-year-old Celian Philips. At the times of Philips death, Dufour was living in a women s shelter, but left at night to visit the victim, despite the urging of a shelter employee to stay. Philips lived with his mother in a one-room apartment in Mercier. The prosecutor told the jury a neighbour heard a fight during the night but a woman told them not to call 911. ....

As of early Monday, the average occupancy rate stood at 81 per cent compared with the 102 per cent reported last Tuesday and Friday and the 101 per cent and 100 per cent averages reported on Wednesday and Thursday respectively.
