LASALLE, ONT. It was an intense 100-metre backstroke final for LaSalle’s Kylie Masse. Her parents, Cindy and Louie were unable to attend due to COVID-19, but watched from their home as Masse chased the dream finish. “She obviously went for it, went out hard and fast, we were just jumping and screaming,” Cindy told CTV News Windsor. Friends and former teammates scattered around the continent also cheered Masse along through their TV sets, among them, former club and University of Toronto swim teammate Rachel Rodé. “I was on my feet screaming, because it’s just so close and you really cannot tell, even at the touch, you can’t tell until it comes up on the screen,” she said. ....
LASALLE, ONT. LaSalle Council has approved temporary road closures for Sandwich Secondary students set to celebrate graduation Tuesday. A procession is scheduled for 2 p.m. beginning at Front Road Park, at the corner of Front Road and Laurier Drive. Participants will travel with an escort from LaSalle Police Service along Laurier Drive to Malden Road. They will turn right onto Malden Road and left onto Mike Raymond Drive, continuing to the parking lot at the Vollmer Culture and Recreation Complex. ....
I’ve had some incredible artwork result from this year. But during a time of unprecedented hardship, Sandwich Secondary art teacher Sanja Srdanov found that the work produced by her students has been incredibly deep and inspiring. “I’ve seen the students’ art flourish more so this year than other years,” Srdanov said. “The reason for that is, I believe, it’s simply become more of art therapy for them. I’ve had some incredible artwork result from this year. “ Even when students were able to attend class, Srdanov watched as they dutifully separated and kept quietly to themselves. “There is this low-grade depression going on,” she said. “They would be so quiet and immersed in their work and I think art was so therapeutic for them.” ....
