BROMSGROVE Central has seen a rise in positive Covid-19 cases as the overall infection rate for the district continues to fall. According to the latest Public Health England data, Bromsgrove s infection rate was 180.2 per 100,000 people in the week up to February 5 - with 180 cases recorded. In the previous week leading up to January 29, the infection rate was 248.3 per 100,000 people – with 248 cases recorded. WALKERS are being urged to find new routes closer to home following reports of crowds of people packing into Bromsgrove’s beauty spots. Officers are aware of large numbers of people using outdoor spaces like Sanders Park and the Lickey and Clent Hills, at the same time as they take their exercise. Now, the council is promoting other walks across the area in a bid to get people to exercise closer to home while exploring the district and staying safe. Council Leader Karen May said: “Bromsgrove has one of the highest number of Covid cases in the county and we need to pull together and think about our actions if we are going to make a difference. ....
Corbin Tourism Director Maggy Kriebel said the last of the 14 signs were installed last week. Each sign measures 7-and-a-half feet up from the ground by 5-and-a-half feet wide. The signs, which were first discussed in 2018, feature up to three destinations including: downtown, Sanders Park, the McBurney Center, tourism welcome center, The Arena, Corbin High School, city hall, Sanders Café and Museum, Each sign contains two or three of the destinations along with an arrow pointing in its general direction. The Corbin Tourism Commission received a $20,000 grant from the Community and Economic Initiative of Kentucky to help fund the $28,000 signage initiative. ....
