LEXINGTON, Ky. (WFIE) - The Henderson County girls basketball team saw its historic season come to a close on Saturday, as the Lady Colonels ended their postseason run in the KHSAA State Semifinals, losing 50-33 to Marshall County.
Henderson County sophomore Jarie Thomas led the Lady Colonels with 11 points and 14 rebounds. Senior Sadie Wurth finished with seven points.
Marshall County shot 73% in Saturday’s contest, hitting 17-23 from the field.
Henderson County ends its season with a 20-5 record.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WFIE) - The Henderson County girls basketball team pulled away early in the quarterfinals of the KHSAA Sweet 16 Tournament, earning a 64-53 win over Russell on Friday.
Henderson County senior Sadie Wurth led all scorers with a game-high 27 points, while dishing out six assists in the process.
“It is very hard to stay focused, but I know I got to do it for my team and for myself,” Wurth said. “I wanted this moment bad and even if my shots aren’t falling, I can do other things to help us win the game.”

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WFIE) - The Henderson County girls basketball team led wire-to-wire in the opening round of the KHSAA Sweet 16 Tournament, defeating Apollo in a 55-31 lopsided victory on Thursday.
Sophomore Jarie Thomas led all scoring with 17 points, while senior Sadie Wurth followed with 13 points. Apollo’s Shelbie Beatty led the E-Gals in scoring with 11 points and Amaya Curry finished with eight points.
Thursday’s win was the first for the Lady Colonels in the state tournament since 2017.
