JAM SESSION: Two-way downtown Wicked Local Jam session is an opinion forum offering comments on issues from a group of Plymouth residents. It appears on the Forum pages in the Weekend edition of the OCM. The newspaper poses a question to the group each week, and participants choose whether to comment. GAZETTE FILE PHOTO COURTESY PHOTO COURTESY PHOTO Published: 3/3/2021 8:10:45 PM NORTHAMPTON After nearly 20 collective years of being on the City Council, at-large member William Dwight announced he’s not seeking another term this fall. “It really is the most important thing I’ve done,” Dwight said in an interview Wednesday. “I’m a slacker and an aging hippie. This was the thing that gave me personal value. That sounds kinda selfish, but by and large the reason was, I was able to at least work toward what I consider to be best for everyone … all the constituency.” ....
Opinion/letter: Plymouth s form of government Wicked Local Paul Cunningham s recent letter on vaccine locations noted that Plymouth is the largest town in Massachusetts which still has the Town Meeting form of government. In actuality, Plymouth is the largest town in all of New England with the Town Meeting form of government. Per our town clerk, our population in 2021 is 63,042; the next nearest towns are Brookline (59,180) and Arlington (45,182). Not only are we the largest, but we are the fastest growing: Plymouth has grown by 11.9% from its 2010 population of 56,468. Brookline has only grown by .7% and Arlington by 5.4% over the same period. We are the largest in the commonwealth with a Town Meeting, and getting larger at a higher rate. ....
