Abu Dhabi: Saudi Arabia’s Food and Drug Authority plans to obligate restaurants and catering companies to serve at least five meals that are free from foods that trigger allergies, local media reported. The Saudi FDA will stipulate that restaurants and catering companies provide two separate menus free of ingredients that cause food allergies, including those that contain gluten such as wheat, barley, oats, rye and millet, plus eggs. The allergen-free menu should be separate from the main menu, or a separate page within the main menu, whether it is displayed on a wooden board, an electronic screen, cardboard, brochures, leaflets, or displayed on smart device applications, websites, barcode or QR code scanner or any other form, the authority said. ....
