On what would have been the great Roy Halladay’s 44th birthday, the Jays Care Foundation and the City of Toronto announced that Toronto’s first accessible baseball diamond will be named Roy Halladay Field.
Over 12 seasons in Toronto, the late Halladay was very involved with the community, particularly with children. His “Doc’s Box” initiative hosted children and families from SickKids (The Hospital for Sick Children) to experience Blue Jays games.
“I am very excited for the completion of this amazing, inclusive baseball field. Roy and I had the privilege of meeting countless inspirational kids and their families through SickKids and our program, Doc’s Box,” said Brandy Halladay in a statement. “We often talked about how incredible it would be to have a baseball field where every child could easily be a part of the game that we all love. FAIRMONT â The high school prom is a rite of passage and students at Fairmont Senior High celebrated that rite May 8 after a year of prom cancellations across the U.S. due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, this year, as the coronavirus appears to be loosening its grip, seniors were able to take to the dance floor one last time as Polar Bears.

The daughter of Ronda and Jason Paugh, Emma is graduating with highest honors. During her time in high school, Emma served as sophomore class treasurer, Junior class president and student body secretary. She is a member of National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, and Bible Club. Sheâs played varsity lacrosse, varsity basketball, and varsity volleyball. She has played on state championship winning basketball and lacrosse teams and is involved in church outreach.
Province Invests to Make Sydney Mines Field More Accessible

All Nova Scotians should have the opportunity to lead healthy, active lives through sport and recreation. That’s why the province is investing $200,000 to renovate Ramblers Field of Dreams in Sydney Mines to make it more accessible for mobility challenged participants.
“We need to make the province’s sport and recreation infrastructure more accessible so that youth and young adults with physical and cognitive challenges can get active, have fun and make friends,” said Premier Iain Rankin. “Projects like this remove physical barriers to sport and open personal horizons.”
