Firefighters battle massive barn fire Updated Mar 04, 2021; Posted Mar 04, 2021 Fire destroys a barn in Kentwood but firefighters kept flames from reaching nearby buildings (Photo by Matt Adams of Kentwood) Facebook Share KENT COUNTY, MI – A Kentwood firefighter was treated for burns Thursday morning, March 4, after a roaring barn fire on 52nd Street SE. Firefighters responded quickly but the large barn was soon engulfed in flames. Firefighters managed to keep flames from spreading to several outbuildings in the immediate area. “The guys did an amazing job,” Battalion Chief Shaun Abbey said. The fire happened at a farm in the 2400 block of 52nd Street SE, between Breton Road and Stauffer Avenue. Firefighters, using three nearby fire hydrants, closed 52nd Street while responding to the fire. ....
