(WTOC) - Fire crews extinguished a large fire behind Habersham Village in Midtown Savannah Thursday morning. According to the Savannah Fire Department, the fire destroyed a three-story apartment building that was under construction in the 4600 Block of Habersham Street. The building was fully engulfed when SFD crews arrived at the scene around 2:40 a.m. “We found a three-story building, under construction, that was fully involved. And it was impeding up to the exposure to another three-story building. So, it was a two-alarm fire,” said Battalion Chief Steven Frazier, Savannah Fire. ....

(WTOC) - The body of a missing boater has been found, according to the mayor pro tem of Port Wentworth. A boat capsized Saturday evening near the Colonial Oil Dock, located along the Savannah riverfront, west of the Talmadge Bridge in an industrial area. The boat is believed to have entered the river at Houlihan Boat Ramp in Port Wentworth. The boat then struck an unmanned barge in the river around 5:00 p.m., and three people were ejected from the vessel, according to the U.S. Coast Guard Marine Safety Unit in Savannah and Sgt. Miller. Officials have confirmed the three people are a family from Hardeeville, S.C. ....
Staff Report The Savannah Fire Department is searching for an individual who went missing after a boat capsized in the Savannah River around 5 p.m. on Saturday The incident occurred near the Colonial Oil Dock. Savannah Fire arrived on scene and managed to rescue an adult and an infant, but a third passenger has not yet been found. Chatham Emergency Management Agency responded to the scene with two paramedic ambulances. One ambulance transported the child to an area hospital; the other remained on scene during the search, Chatham Emergency Services Chief Chuck Kearns said. The boat appears to have struck a barge before capsizing on the Savannah River, Savannah Fire said in a Facebook post. ....
