Environment Minister Meaghan Scanlon said the Palaszczuk Government was teaming up with Australia’s peak retail body the National Retail Association (NRA) as well as the Boomerang Alliance for a travelling roadshow to make sure businesses and community groups were ready for the shift to more sustainable products. “Half of all plastic produced is designed to be used only once, ending up in landfill and harming our environment,” Minister Scanlon said. ....

KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Capt Nqobile Gwala said detectives discovered a staged hijacking after they began investigating a case ironically opened on Freedom Day, April 27. A truck driver alleged that he, together with his crew, were hijacked at Ezinqoleni. “The driver alleged that the truck was hijacked by men who were travelling in three different vehicles who stole the stock they were delivering as they were about to make a delivery at a supermarket in Ezinqoleni,” said Gwala. ....
Cluck Cluck, 6-foot rooster sculpture taken from Le Peep restaurant in Loveland Kody Fisher The owner of a Loveland restaurant says someone recently stole thousands of dollars worth of items, including a giant rooster sculpture. Trent Mulch the owner of Le Peep said he showed up to his restaurant on Saturday morning and noticed Cluck Cluck, the restaurant’s metal 6-foot rooster, missing. Mulch bought Cluck Cluck just a year after he bought the Le Peep in 2017. He says since then it’s become a part of the restaurant’s fabric. “It’s the thing that kind of stands out the most at this restaurant. It’s kind of the thing that kids love to take pictures with . adults as well,” Mulch said, adding the rooster became synonymous with the Le Peep brand. ....
