NAACP to host Juneteenth Black and Brown Family and Farmers Market
With the help of Long Family Markets, the Stafford NAACP is hosting a Juneteenth Black and Brown Family and Farmers Market from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 19 at the 610 Commuter Lot, 163 Staffordboro Blvd. in North Stafford.
In addition to lots of great merchandise and food for sale, there will be entertainment, games, prizes and a kids corner.

More COVID-19 vaccines available in Fredericksburg area as eligibility expands


Karen Duckett was glad her husband, Timothy, was vaccinated in March because he has pre-existing health conditions—including three bouts with cancer—and has continued his work in auto sales throughout the pandemic.
She thought it would be a different story for herself. She’s 56, works from her Stafford County home and “wanted everyone else who needed the vaccine more than I did to be able to go first.”
Duckett had registered through the state health department, then was surprised when a relative mentioned last week that Mary Washington Healthcare has vaccines available. Duckett registered on the MWHC site and, within the hour, scheduled an appointment for the next day. ....

Mr. Cluck Cluck will be perched among the produce, prepared foods and other products when Long Family Markets reopens Sunday at the 610 Commuter Lot in Stafford County.
Regulars know to be on the lookout for the mask-wearing fabric fowl, who’ll be hidden in a different spot at the market from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. each Sunday through Nov. 21.
“If they find him, they stop by our information tent and let us know where they saw him,” said Robin Lynn Long, market co-owner, chief strategist and chaos coordinator. “Correct answers get a dollar to shop with in the market.” ....
