SOHAR: As part of the student exchange programme between The International Maritime College Oman (IMCO) and the Netherlands Maritime University (NMU), a group of Master of Science in Shipping and Transport programme 16 students are visiting the Sultanate of Oman for an educational trip.
The itinerary includes a number of visits to the leading shipping and logistics companies like Oman Shipping Company, Oman Global Logistics Company, Ministry of Transport and Communications and other concerned companies within the Sohar Industrial Port and Freezone.
Furthermore, NMU students will visit some of the tourist and historical attractions during their stay in Oman. ....

The Mussanah Open Championship, organised by Oman Sail, came to a close after six days of exhilarating action on the water across five classes. With Olympic qualification on the line, as well as the honour of winning gold, silver and bronze medals, racing on the final day was tense, dramatic and of an incredibly high standard as dreams were made reality in perfect conditions.
The 49er class gold medal was won by the Indian pair of KC Ganapathy and Varun Thakkar who finished on top for the fourth successive day and have qualified for the Olympics. Akira Sakai and Russel Aylsworth representing Hong Kong gave the performance of the day to secure second place and silver, and the Omani team of Musab Al Hadi and Waleed Al Kindi gained two places from yesterday to end the championship in third, taking the bronze medal on home waters. ....

Muscat: Unpredictable winds on the fourth day of competition at the Mussanah Open Championships posed a new challenge to competitors across all classes with many struggling in the conditions. The day started well with clear skies and light winds but as the day progressed the winds dropped completely before changing direction throwing many off course.
In the 49er class, the Indian pair of KC Ganapathy and Varun Thakkar retain top spot with Benjamin Talbot and Alex Burger of South Africa and the Chinese pairing of Hong Wei and Chao Xiang switching places from yesterday, ending the day with the Chinese team in second and the South African duo in third. Thai pairing Don and Dylan Whitcraft are fourth and the Omani team of Musab Al Hadi and Waleed Al Kindi in fifth. Just a single point separates third to fifth leaving all to play for in tomorrow’s races. ....
