By Julia Bertino May 28, 2021 (Sarpy County, NE) Bond is set for a Bellevue father who is charged with the deaths of his two children. In Sarpy County Court Friday morning, bond was set at $2.5 million for Adam Price after he was returned to Nebraska from California late Thursday night. Price faces two charges of felony child abuse/neglect resulting in death. During Friday s appearance, a preliminary hearing was also set for June 15th. Price was arrested in Pacifica, California earlier this month after his 3 year old son Theodore and 5 year old daughter Emily were found dead in his Bellevue home. ....
Nebraska teens face charges for attack on girl s father May 10, 2021 FacebookTwitterEmail BELLEVUE, Neb. (AP) Two Nebraska teenagers are charged with attempted first-degree murder and other crimes for allegedly attacking a man with a metal meat tenderizer and a wooden rod. The Omaha World-Herald reports that one of the suspects, 18-year-old Gabriella Laws, is the daughter of the victim. The other suspect is 18-year-old Josh Fithian. Both are accused of attacking Robert Laws in his bedroom in Bellevue in January. A police affidavit filed in Sarpy County Court says officers were called to a home just after 2 a.m. Jan. 17 and found Robert Laws with facial injuries so severe that he was placed in a medical coma to treat brain bleeding and cranial factures. ....
By Julia Bertino May 7, 2021 (Sarpy County, NE) Seven candidates to serve as the new Sarpy County Treasurer will be interviewed over the next two weeks. The Sarpy County Board of Commissioners says they will interview the applicants on May 10th and May 18th. The Board says they will interview four candidates on May 10th and three candidates on May 18th. The interviews will start at 9 a.m. both days in the Sarpy County Courthouse and are open to the public. Each interview will last approximately 30 minutes. Following the interviews, the Board will appoint a new Treasurer, who will serve until January 2023. Former Treasurer Brian Zuger was removed from office in April after his office overpaid or underpaid $12 million in public funds to different school districts; and failed to properly disperse a percentage of revenue paid to the county from OPPD, which the utility pays in lieu of property taxes. ....
Man pleads no contest in crash that killed truck driver April 15, 2021 FacebookTwitterEmail PAPILLION, Neb. (AP) An 18-year-old man pleaded no contest Thursday in a crash that killed a concrete truck driver, who prosecutors hailed as a hero. Garrett Bragg, of Murdock, entered the plea in Sarpy County Court to misdemeanor motor vehicle homicide in the Oct. 7, 2020, crash on Nebraska Highway 370. The crash killed Gregory Brennan, 50, of Omaha. Prosecutors said Bragg tried to turn left from westbound Highway 370 while Brennan was driving east through the same intersection. Bragg had a flashing yellow light, while Brennan had a green light. Brennan swerved to avoid a collision and clipped the back of Bragg s car. The concrete truck overturned, killing Brennan. ....
