Sartell Mayor Ryan Fitzthum joined me on WJON today. He says the city of Sartell's east side of the Mississippi River where the old paper mill used to be is a blank canvas that could be developed into something similar to how Stillwater uses the St. Croix river. Fitzthum says they are a bit limited due to residential and County Road 1 on the west side of the river.

Montgomery: The city will offer 100 $50 Walmart gift cards each at four neighborhood COVID-19 vaccine clinics in an attempt to combat declining numbers in the state. The clinics will not require an appointment, insurance or identification. “Our goal has always been to protect the lives and livelihoods of everyone in Montgomery,” Mayor Steven Reed said in a statement. “The COVID-19 vaccines are our best chance to do so.” The city is also organizing free rides to and from the clinics for those without transportation. People can call 211 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on weekdays to schedule private transportation. Organizers of Sartell Summerfest are planning a scaled-back version of the citywide celebration this year called Slightly Summerfest.
The Summerfest Committee says had information come to light several weeks ago they would have done everything possible to keep it normal for the community.
As months passed, it became obvious that loosening of the executive orders was not going to be announced with enough time for us to coordinate, plan and execute our traditional SummerFest event.
This year s events include a city wide garage sale, the 5k Diaper Dash, mini golf and other smaller events.

Sartell SummerFest will take place with an abbreviated schedule in June and a name to match: Slightly Summerfest.
The SummerFest volunteer committee announced the event on Monday.
It will take place from June 9 to 13 in Sartell.
This years festivities will include a citywide garage sale, the 5K Diaper Dash, mini-golf and other small events. Additional events will be shared through social media, a flyer mailed to residents and online at sartellsummerfest.com, according to a press release. Sartell Mayor Ryan Fizthum joined me on WJON today. He says Sartell Summerfest will happen in 2021. He says they will follow guidance from the state and expect to have the parade and Libertyville amongst other activities and events. He says it's tough to do a parade without marching bands but he's optimistic that marching bands will be allowed to perform in parades this summer.
