Khago Two months after declaring that he would be suing a slew of Dancehall music producers in his second round of copyrights litigation, Khago has had somewhat of a change of heart, and now says he will be only suing the “facety” ones. Khago was participating in an interview with host Sanjay of Television Jamaica’s entertainment programme Intense, regarding his future plans, and successes over the last year, when he was asked about the recent “controversy” with the producers and the impending lawsuits. “Mi naw sue di whola dem enuh; mi just a sue di facety one dem,” Khago declared flatly. ....
A week after Clarks Originals unveiled its Clarks and Jamaica marketing documentary, The Gleaner newspaper has reported that all is not well with the British footwear company financially, resulting in it “launching its new Dancehall campaign aimed in part at reconnecting with Jamaican ‘cult’ consumers, as a way to regain lost sales”. In The Gleaner report titled Clarks Targeting Jamaica’s Cult Buyers, business reporter Steven Jackson quoted Clarks former CEO Giorgio Presca as saying in the company’s annual report, that the Clarks has “lost connection with the main customers and accounts in our key wholesale markets”. “Consumers lack emotional affinity with our brand. People today buy a brand because they feel that the brand represents them and has created an emotional connection with them,” Presca said. ....
Cordell ‘Skatta’ Burrell, Music producer Cordell ‘Skatta’ Burrell has described as unprincipled and dishonourable, Dancehall artists who turn around and sue music producers after, ‘agreeing in principle’ to record songs without the requisite written contracts in place, even though their unwritten arrangements were fair and equitable. Skatta was speaking on The Fix Podcast recently, in the wake of Dancehall artiste Khago’s recent threats to file lawsuits against several music producers for copyright breaches. “Is nice dat everybaddy a sway back to di business aspect of it now, but if you are an artiste and you know in dat time, you and di producer had that agreement, mentally, for you to come back round now, yuh know seh yuh kinda really being deceitful still.” Skatta said. ....
Cordell ‘Skatta’ Burrell, If Dancehall artist Khago, carries out his threat to sue producer Seanizzle, over copyright breaches, then it would appear that the One Day producer is in good stead in putting up a defence, as he can take cues from his compatriot Cordell ‘Skatta’ Burrell. Khago has threatened to sue Seanizzle for copyright infringements on his Nah Sell Out breakout hit song, a track that was produced by Seanizzle’s in 2011 on his historic One Day riddim, which not only resurrected the career of Fudgie artist Mr. G, but propelled Khago to international stardom, and shot Beenie Man and Future Fambo’s ....
