KOTA KINABALU: This is not the time to change the government as the focus should be on tackling the Covid-19 pandemic, says a Sabah Deputy Chief Minister. Datuk Dr Joachim Gunsalam, also Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) vice-president, said such politicking would be a waste of time and effort. This comes after 11 Umno MPs withdrew their support for the Perikatan Nasional government and the Prime Minister. Sabah leaders have said this will not have an impact on the state’s ruling coalition, Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS), which comprises Sabah Barisan Nasional (Umno, Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah, MCA and MIC), Sabah Perikatan Nasional (Bersatu, Sabah STAR, Sabah Progressive Party, PAS and Gerakan) and PBS. ....

Muhyiddin said because of that, there were certain parties who were deliberately trying to “fish in troubled waters” to cause political turmoil. He added that he was also accused of having committed treason against the King when he had acted solely to preserve the supremacy of the Constitution and defend the sanctity of the Constitutional Monarchy. KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin says that he will not resign but instead will table a motion of confidence to determine the legitimacy of his position in the Dewan Rakyat in September. In his special address on Wednesday (Aug 4), Muhyiddin apologised as he had to come forward to explain the position of the Perikatan Nasional government and his legitimacy as the Prime Minister while the country is facing the Covid-19 pandemic. He added that he received a letter from the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, who informed that eight Umno lawmakers had written to the Speaker of the Dewan Rakyat to withdraw support from Muhyiddin. ....
