RJD to contest assembly polls in Assam, Kerala, West Bengal; JD(U) to go solo in two states | India News

PATNA: Bihar’s both leading regional parties- Lalu Prasad-led RJD and CM Nitish Kumar’s JD(U) on Friday gird up their loins to contest the forthcoming assembly polls in other states, soon after the Election Commission announced schedule for assembly polls in five states namely Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and West Bengal.
While the RJD has, as of now, decided to contest the polls in Assam, West Bengal and Kerala either alone or in alliance with some other parties; the Bihar’s ruling JD(U) has decided to go solo in Assam and West Bengal.
Assembly polls will be held for 140 seats in Kerala, 126 seats in Assam and 294 seats in West Bengal. ....

PATNA: The two leading regonal parties of Bihar - chief minister Nitish Kumar’s JD(U) and Lalu Prasad s RJD - on Friday geared up to contest the forthcoming assembly polls in other states, the schedule for which was announced by the Election Commission.
Four states - Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal and the Union territory of Puducherry will go to polls between March 27 and April 29. The results will be announced on May 2.

Subol Sarker was a regular seventh-grade student at Dashuria High School in Bangladesh s Pabna district before Covid-19 forced the school to close indefinitely in March last year.

ACC appeals against Ishraqâs acquittal in wealth statement case

DHAKA, Jan 18, 2021 (BSS) â The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed an appeal against a lower court judgement that acquitted BNP leader Engineer Ishraq Hossain in a case lodged for not submitting his wealth statement.
The plea came on the cause list of a single judge High Court Division virtual bench of Justice Md Selim, as 25th matter to be heard.
According to the case documents, the ACC on September 1, 2008, issued notices to Ishraq to submit statements on the wealth belonging to him and people dependent on him.
The ACC sent the notices to their home on September 4, 2008. But the accused didnât comply with the ACC notice within due time. ....
