Richard Fishburn never imagined he’d one day be facing down debt collectors all because he decided to return to college.

An Army veteran who had worked his whole life, Fishburn enrolled at Cleveland State University in Ohio in 2016. But in his third semester, when the back injury he sustained in the Army flared up, his advisers encouraged him to take time to heal so he wasn’t in excruciating pain sitting in lecture halls. ....

The percentage of 2020 high school graduates enrolling immediately in college declined nationally by 6.8 percent this school year an unprecedented drop, according to the National Student Clearinghouse but local data was more mixed.

African Art Migration: From the Tribe to Museum Walls, a new program examining African influence on modern Western artists such as Picasso, Matisse, and Modigliani will be presented via Zoom 6:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesday March 3, marking the end of this year’s Black History Month, according to a press release from sponsor Norwalk Public Library.
The program, an ArtScapades production, will be presented by longstanding art appreciation teachers Robin Hoffman and Jodi Stiffelman, who have held forth at museums and libraries in Connecticut, New York, Massachusetts and Florida. ....

Dayton Metro Library board members are expected to name their pick to be the system’s next executive director during a special meeting today.
“The trustees have carefully considered all three of our highly-qualified candidates, and following final discussions tomorrow (Tuesday) we anticipate announcing our selection,” said Elaine Zimmers Johnson, the board’s president and a member of the search committee. ....
