INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) Despite being terminally ill with cancer, an Indianapolis grandfather got to be at his grandson’s wedding.
Bob Flodder, 71, and his wife got to share the moment with them on Monday, thanks to caregivers at Community Hospital South arranging for the ceremony at the hospital’s chapel.
But grandson Christopher Flodder, 24, and his bride, Annika Cooper, 22, had a surprise up their sleeves.
After the wedding ceremony, the groom had a special request for his grandfather he asked Bob Flodder and his wife of 49 years, Sherri Flodder, to renew their vows. They didn’t hesitate to say “I do” to the invitation, the hospital said. ....

Donald L. Jones, 90, of Greenwood, passed away on December 20, 2020. He was born on July 26, 1930 in Jefferson Co. IN to the late John Lester and Mary Josephine “Josie” Jones.
Don graduated from Central High School and was a graduate of the University of Indianapolis. He was a member of Stones Crossing Church, Greenwood. He was a United States Navy veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict. Don retired from Allison Division, GMC, after 35 years of dedication. After retirement, he volunteered 27 years at Community Hospital South, and 23 years with Habitat for Humanity. Don also enjoyed fishing and boating. ....

Christmas came early for some health care workers who got a COVID-19 vaccine Friday morning at Johnson Memorial Hospital.
About 100 health care workers who live or work in Johnson County were vaccinated Friday, marking the first to be given to those on the frontlines of the pandemic at area hospitals. Johnson Memorial Hospital had 975 doses to give to area health care workers as part of the health system’s first shipment of the Pfizer BioNTech vaccine.
Nearby Community Hospital South and Franciscan Health Indianapolis also began vaccinating employees and those from neighboring health systems Friday. ....
