After months of extraordinary challenges posed by the coronavirus pandemic it is fantastic this week to be able to write about something positive – the fact that in June Cornwall will host the leaders of the G7 countries.
This is clearly a major boost for our part of the world. The event will bring Presidents, chancellors and Prime Ministers from the UK, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan and the US to Carbis Bay, with neighbouring St Ives and other sites in Cornwall hosting scores of international delegates, security personnel and media. Also invited this year are leaders from Australia, India and South Korea. ....

First responder retires after almost 20,000 hours of volunteering

Bishop s Waltham Community First Responder John Price is retiring
AFTER almost 20,000 hours of responding to more than 1,000 patients a community volunteer is stepping down.
John Price is retiring from being a Community First Responder (CFR) in Bishop’s Waltham after nine years.
To celebrate his retirement from the frontline John has shared a few of his responding highlights.
Following a career as a consultant engineer and with no prior medical knowledge, John trained to be a Community First Responder and has been able to bring his skills of working with people together with a drive for innovation and improvement to the Bishop’s Waltham CFR team – constantly working to improve the efficiency of the response to emergency situations. ....
