PUTRAJAYA: The Health Ministry has identified nine new Covid-19 clusters in the country, of which four are workplace outbreaks.
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the number of active clusters in the country is now 344.
The Jalan Puncak Borneo cluster in Sarawak has 61 confirmed cases so far. The cluster is linked to trainees of a training centre in Jalan Puncak Borneo, Kuching. A targeted screening exercise was conducted on 111 individuals from April 11. As of April 13, there are 61 confirmed cases, said Dr Noor Hisham.
Besides the four workplace clusters, there were also three new community outbreaks.
One of them is the Kampung Gayang cluster, which is linked to a social event held on March 28 at a village in Tuaran, Sabah.
PUTRAJAYA: The Health Ministry has detected five Covid-19 outbreaks within communities in Sarawak and Selangor.
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said they were among 10 new clusters classified by the ministry on Friday (March 12).
One of them is the Jalan Kunci Air cluster, which has cases spread throughout the Gombak and Hulu Selangor districts. The index case of this cluster developed symptoms before testing positive for Covid-19 on March 1. A total of 205 individuals had undergone screening under this cluster, of which 18 were confirmed as positive cases, said Dr Noor Hisham.
The Sena cluster in Sarawak has 61 positive cases which originated from the locality of Lorong Sena 1A in Lutong, Miri.
Three more COVID-19 patients were confirmed in the northern province of Hai Duong, the country’s largest COVID-19 hotspot, on February 23 morning, raising the country’s total community infections to 1,496, according to the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control.
