Pensacola has become the first city in Northwest Florida to commit to having almost a third of its operations powered by renewable energy by the end of the decade, but it s not clear yet how the city will accomplish the goal. Pensacola s goal of 30% of its energy coming from renewable sources may look modest compared to 11 other cities in the state that have committed to 100% by the 2040s or 2050s. But Pensacola Mayor Grover Robinson said the city s 30% goal is based on the advice of the city s sustainability coordinator as Pensacola would likely never reach 100% renewable energy. Crawfish are so ingrained into the culture of Pensacola that a year without the city s highly anticipated crawfish festival is a year to forget, which 2020 very much was. But now it s time to pinch and suck like it s 2019 as the 36th annual Pensacola Crawfish Festival returns this year between April 30 and May 2. The event will move back to Seville Square and Fountain Park after most recently taking place at Community Maritime Park. The location change was prompted by concern over Hurricane Sally damage at Maritime Park, according to festival organizers at Fiesta Pensacola. We are very excited to bring this back to the community after such a hard year last year, said Margaret-Anne West, the event director at Fiesta Pensacola. We re taking all the necessary precautions and we re really excited to have the community come out and listen to some great music, eat some great crawfish and have a great time together once again. ....
