How would you assess communications and messaging around the vaccine so far?
As with any emerging crisis, there really is no template or hard set of rules to follow when communicating with customers, staff or residents. Our guiding principle is to follow our values, and communicating about vaccination is no exception. For content, we primarily use the educational materials provided by ACHA/NCAL and the CDC. Our team then puts it through a “compassionate lens” by educating not mandating. The message is about how our team has the opportunity to make a major impact on the lives of those we serve and their own community. We do not brush over the seriousness of the situation. Instead, we hit it head-on.
No timeline set for when Shelby County could receive more doses of the vaccine

SHELBY COUNTY, Tenn. (WMC) - More than 24,000 people in Shelby County have gotten the COVID-19 vaccine. The Shelby County Health Department said it will soon be out of its current allotment.
Shelby County received more than 12,000 doses of the Moderna vaccine.
This week workers have taken the vaccines to long-term care facilities, but by Wednesday afternoon SCHD Director Dr. Alisa Haushalter said the last doses were being used with no timeline on when the county could get more.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - Doses of the countyâs second COVID-19 vaccine, this one from Moderna, continue to be shipped from the Mid-South across the United States. The Tennessee Department of Health said the state has received thousands of doses, with the first administered this afternoon.
Those Moderna vaccines are expected to go to local health departments, long-term care facilities and hospitals that didnât get the Pfizer vaccine. The Shelby County Health Department expects the shipment by Wednesday.

TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) Managers at Tupelo’s Community Living Center said people who live in their nursing homes have suffered during the coronavirus pandemic. I feel like finally, maybe there is a light at the end of the tunnel,” Christina Turner said.
Turner is Senior Director of Clinical Operations at the Community Elder Care Services.
The company manages nursing homes in Mississippi and Tennessee.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - The first shot of the Pfizer BioNTech vaccine was administered on Monday to a nurse in Queens, New York as the U.S. surpassed 300,000 virus-related deaths.
“We’re feeling great,” said FedEx Executive Vice-President Richard W. Smith. “Distribution has gone very smoothly this morning. All of us at FedEx are immensely proud to be a part of this historic moment.”
