CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Tennessee General Assembly approved funding Thursday for the construction of an 114,6000-square-foot Health Professions Building on Eighth Street as well as the creation of the state’s first ever Institute for National Security and Military Studies.
The General Assembly approved the ambitious projects as part of the state’s 2021-2022 annual budget.
“I’m so pleased the Tennessee General Assembly is generously supporting the important work we do at Austin Peay by providing funding for these transformative projects,” APSU President Michael Licari said. “We especially appreciate the leadership of Deputy Speaker Curtis Johnson and Senator Bill Powers and the strong support of Representatives Jason Hodges and Jay Reedy.” ....

New health professions building and military institute coming to APSU

A significant investment into the Ward County park system last year means less work to do this year, but the park board continues to make plans for future improvements.
This year the focus will be on Rice Lake, said Travis Schmit, assistant county engineer. The park board will meet May 4 to consider the feasibility of funding beach restoration and restrooms. The county sold 2-¢ lots on the north side of the beach and has allocated that money toward beach improvements.
“We are planning improvements to rehabilitate the swim beach to make it more user friendly and increase our capacity, bringing it to modernization with working restrooms and running water,” Schmit said. ....

HHS provides $816,463 to businesses in Winnsboro under CARES ACT


Through the fourth quarter of 2020, businesses in Winnsboro received $816,463 in health-related relief from the CARES act issued by the Department of Health and Human Services.
According to numbers reported through the fourth quarter of 2020, businesses in South Carolina received $1.2 billion in health-related relief from the CARES act issued by the Department of Health and Human Services. The largest recipient of funding in the state was Prisma Health-Upstate with a total of $131 million. The average loan size in the city was $68,039 while the state s average loan amount was $258,718.
Of the money distributed, $30 billion went out automatically to health providers based on previous year medicare payments. If the money wasn t returned within 90 days the provider is then automatically entered into the repayment terms that are issued by HHS. With the money going out automatically and the rules constantly changing, some of the businesses that received the money weren t eligib ....
