In addition to the £219.9million, £96.1 million is being allocated to meet costs associated with the business support schemes (an increase on the £80.9 million held centrally included within Budget 2021-2022).
Announcing the allocations, Minister Murphy said, “Although the COVID 19 restrictions are easing, the impact of COVID on society remains profound.
“The £220 million I am allocating will support the social recovery from Covid.
“I’m providing nearly £60 million to support the health service.
 
 
“The pandemic has had a significant impact on mental wellbeing.
“And I have provided funding for a number of mental health interventions.
“I’m also conscious that many people are experiencing long-term impacts from Covid. ....

Almost £100m relates to existing business support grants.
There is £60m directed to health services and £50m earmarked for education.
Finance Minister Conor Murphy said although Covid restrictions were easing, the pandemic s impact remained profound and that the money would support social recovery .
Mr Murphy said the pandemic had also had a significant impact on mental wellbeing and funding had been provided for a number of mental health interventions .
The breakdown of funding to the education sector will see £20m to provide laptops for teachers and voluntary youth services, and £10m for wellbeing and pastoral support for students. ....

Schools in Derry have been given computer equipment to help families overcome the challenges of home-schooling.
The equipment has been funded through Derry City and Strabane District Council s Covid-19 Community Support Programme (CSP), which has delivered support to local communities in recent months funded by the Department for Communities.
In January, £270,000 was allocated in a third tranche of funding for the delivery of a dedicated Connectivity Programme for post-primary schools in Derry. ....
