Community input sought for Homewood Park expansion, Willie Stargell Field upgrade


Homewood residents are invited to give input on the ongoing plans to upgrade and expand Homewood Park.
The Department of Public Works will host residents from 1 p.m. till 4 p.m. on Saturday at the corner of Hamilton and North Lang Avenues to hear their insights on the project. In case of rain, the gathering will be moved to the Community Empowerment Association at 7120 Kelly Street.
In 2015, Homewood Community Sports partnered with Heinz Endowments, Operation Better Block, Neighborhood Allies, Bridging the Gap Development and The Mission Continues to launch a grassroots study of field improvements at Willie Stargell Field.
The study identified some of the challenges that the site currently faces, including the fact that the field serves as both a football and baseball field, though it is inadequately sized for both. ....
