Pedestrian injured in northern Alberta crash


 
EDMONTON
A man is in hospital in stable condition after being hit by a vehicle near Peace River, Alta., RCMP said.
A 20-year-old pedestrian was intoxicated while walking into oncoming traffic just before 2 a.m. on Range Road 212A when they were hit by a 58-year-old driving north in an SUV, police said in a release.
The pedestrian was treated by EMS for serious life-threatening injuries and remains in hospital in stable condition.
Both the driver and pedestrian are from Peace River. Peace Regional RCMP investigated the scene of the collision along with the RCMP Collision Analyst, and say all contributing factors are being considered. ....

Peace Regional RCMP make available the Eagle Feather Protocol

As of April 29, the Peace Regional RCMP have made available the eagle feather available as an option when swearing legal oaths at the RCMP detachment. As part of the RCMP’s commitment to create a more inclusive justice system for Indigenous people, the RCMP has implemented the Eagle Feather Protocol.
Similar to the use of the Bible or affirmation when providing a sworn statement, the eagle feather is now an option. Individuals will now be given the option to swear on a Bible, affirm, or affirm with an eagle feather when providing a sworn statement to the RCMP. This will be an option available to witnesses, victims, suspects, as well as police officers. ....
