Yaphet Kotto, Distinguished Actor Who Played Beloved Bond Villain, Dies at 81

Yaphet Kotto the Black actor who portrayed one of the most beloved James Bond villains has died at the age of 81. Kotto’s wife, Tessie Sinahon, first announced his death in a loving Facebook post that was shared to his public page on Monday, March 15.
“I’m saddened and still in shocked of the passing of my husband Yaphet of 24 years. He died last night around 10:30pm Philippine time,” Sinahon wrote, noting the actor still had a lot of plans, including offers for movie roles with Tom Cruise, in the G.I. Joe Franchise and more. She went on to praise her life partner. ....

James Bond villain and Alien actor Yaphet Kotto dies at 81
Yaphet Kotto, best known for playing a villain in 1973 James Bond movie Live and Let Die, has died at the age of 81.
The actor also played a crew member in 1979 sci-fi movie Alien, and starred in US TV police drama Homicide: Life on the Street.
Kotto’s other credits included the 1980s action films The Running Man and Midnight Run.

He also received an Emmy nomination for playing former Ugandan President Idi Amin in the 1977 movie Raid on Entebbe.
His TV career also included roles in the A-Team and Law and Order, and he played Lieutenant Al Giardello in seven series of the gritty Homicide: Life on the Street, for which he also worked as a scriptwriter. ....

Jane, who was around 23 at the time, looked radiant in a plunging red swimsuit, while Yaphet appeared dapper in a brown suit.
She wrote in view of her 196,000 followers: “I had the pleasure of working with Yaphet Kotto on Live and Let Die as a very young actress.
He was a kind man and working with him was quite an unforgettable experience.
“Yaphet was an amazing actor who really embodied Mr Big. I shall miss him, Rest in Peace, she added.
