For more than 60 years Tracy’s Drive-In Grocery has been a community anchor in an historic neighborhood in Bastrop just north of downtown. It’s been a gathering spot for the young and old alike, and over the years it has provided countless students their first job. Forrest Tracy Chalmers Sr. and his children have owned Tracy’s Drive-In since 1954, but on Feb. 1 new owners Athan and Annemarie Schindler and Ryan and Samantha Holiday took over the iconic corner store at 1602 Main St. Forrest Chalmers Jr. and his sister Sarah Chalmers, both of who took over the store from their father Forrest Chalmers Sr. in the 1990s, said it was time for a change and that they had met “the right people” to whom to hand over the reins. ....
