Data from the Department of Work and Pensions show that one in four parents across Carlisle, Allerdale and Copeland failed to pay any child maintenance through the Collect and Pay service (CMS) between January and March. The statistics had our readers up in arms on three fronts - defending men, defending women and claiming the CMS.. Several readers suggested it was not due to lockdown that payments were not forthcoming. Rebecca Mossop: Its nothing to do with lockdown! Rach Yeomans: What about those who have failed to pay previous to lockdown or those who evade paying the correct amount? The child maintenance service as a whole should be under scrutiny.
