The battle between the town and Highway Superintendent Larry Lamora got heated Wednesday evening during a public comment period at the Town Board meeting. Lamora addressed town officials for more than the four minutes allotted for public input when Town Supervisor Steven Tommasone took a political jab at Lamora. “You want to blame everybody else for your missteps and your inability, but you know what?,” Tommasone said. “You have to live in Rotterdam in order to be highway superintendent.” ....

Rotterdam officials want another town justice, but judges wants another clerk, raise | The Daily Gazette SECTIONS While Rotterdam town officials insist they need another court justice, but both town judges have a difference of opinion. Justices Kenneth Litz and James Bradshaw said the town has no need for a third justice, but the Town Board on Wednesday evening voted to seek approval from the state to add one. Town officials claim a third judge is needed to handle the increased caseload the courts are seeing. “The town of Rotterdam has identified the need for a third town judge in order to address high case volume and better serve residents,” said an emailed statement sent Thursday by the town’s public relations firm, The Martin Group. “A third judge will offset that volume, reduce waiting time and streamline court proceedings, lessening the impact on town resources.” The release attributed the comments to town officials, without specifying ....

The board voted unanimously at its April 14 meeting to hire The Martin Group of Albany for up to $36,000 between April 2021 and March 2022. The announcement comes after the Town Board has been mentioned several times in the last two months in The Daily Gazette for: denying access to a Police Department audit, investigating the town clerk for violating town policy, violating the state’s open meetings law and being the subject of a lawsuit involving a town police officer who mistakenly caused a man to go to jail for a few days. ....
