Peshawar May 13, 2021 MARDAN: Four gamblers were arrested in the Mardan city on Wednesday, while the police have rounded up more than 400 people over violation of Corona SOPs during the last several days. A police spokesman said that the arrestees identified as Sabz Ali, Anwar Zeb, Lal Bahadur and Sardar, were busy in playing cards when raided by the cops. The police also seized the money on bet. Meanwhile, the spokesman said that on the directives of District Police Officer Dr Zahidullah Khan, as many as 400 people have been arrested and 323 FIRs lodged over violations of Covid SOPs in the district. ....
National May 1, 2021 LANDIKOTAL: The residents of Mulagori area here on Friday staged a protest demonstration against the closure of marble factories. Chanting slogans against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Deputy Speaker Mahmood Jan and the district authorities, the protesters were led by Qaumi Ittehad president Sajjad Khan. They also established a sit-in camp at Marble Chowk. Local elders and owners of marble factories, including Malik Abdul Manan, Malik Rozi Khan, Abul Hassan, Sabz Ali Khan and others, attended the protest. Speaking on the occasion, Malik Abdul Manan, Sabz Ali and Abul Hassan said that 270 marble factories had been operating in Mulagori area for decades. They alleged that district authorities sealed 104 marble factories in Mulagori at the behest provincial assembly deputy speaker Mahmood Jan. KHYBER: Scores of dealers and daily wagers have stopped excavation of marble stones from mines in Malagori in protest against the recent hike in royalty tax by the provincial minerals department. Local residents of Malagori associated with the business said that the royalty was increased without taking them into confidence. They rejected the decision, saying it would put a financial burden on them. Retired Subedar Sabz Ali, a spokesman for the crushed stone dealers, said that over 50 loaded vehicles were now stranded at various marble mines in Malagori as they had refused to supply the commodity to the people in Peshawar and other adjoining areas who had ordered it for construction purpose. ....
