Discussions regarding boathouse lease extensions in Windermere have been tabled to allow for further negotiations between the town and boathouse owners. After hearing from boathouse owners and residents, Town Council members voted during their July 13 meeting to delay a decision until both parties had a chance to work out details in the lease. The five boathouses in town are located in Palmer Park and are estimated to be more than 100 years old. The town decided to lease them out 20 years ago with an initial 10-year term; those leases then automatically renewed for another decade. ....
2 hours ago Share Town Council members discussed a proposed project that would change the landscape of 2.17 acres of land at Main Street and East Sixth Avenue. A proposed downtown redevelopment project in Windermere went before the Town Council for a first reading April 13, sparking a couple of hours of discussion amongst stakeholders. The project would redevelop 2.17 acres of land at Main Street and East Sixth Avenue with up to 21,750 square feet of retail, restaurant and office space. The applicant, Windermere Downtown Property LLC, is requesting to rezone and obtain a preliminary development plan to redevelop the property. Two weeks earlier, town planner Brad Cornelius and applicant Jim Hall spoke with council members and residents about the project in a public workshop. The second reading and public hearing is scheduled for the June 8 Town Council meeting. ....

3 months ago Share Town staff will put out a request for quotation for the Butler and Bessie stormwater-mediation concepts in the New Year. Windermere is another step closer to finding stormwater solutions for the Butler and Bessie basins. During their Dec. 8 meeting, Town Council members voted to move forward with the current concepts for both projects and set boundaries for their financial impact to the town. Earlier this year, the town was awarded a Hazard Mitigation Grant Program grant for stormwater improvements for the Butler Street basin area namely Butler Street and Seventh Avenue in the amount of $80,000 for design and between $500,000 and $700,000 for construction. The grant also requires the town to contribute a percentage of the project cost. ....
