Justice Ali Baqar Najafi issued a stay order on a joint petition filed by the millers. Advocate Abuzar Salman Khan Niazi, appearing on behalf of the mills, argued that the registration and licencing was the domain of the federal government through the Pakistan Standard and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA), and not the provinces. ....
PPP rejects HEC ordinance ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) on Thursday expressed grave concerns over the inordinate delay in laying the ordinance pertaining to the Higher Education Commission (HEC) before parliament and demanded that it should immediately be presented in the august house. In a statement, PPP Parliamentary Leader in the Senate Sherry Rehman said the National Assembly has been in session and to date, the HEC ordinance has not been laid before parliament. According to the Constitution, the PPP stalwart said the presidential ordinance should be presented in the house during the parliamentary session. “It is clear that all constitutional obligations are being flouted in ‘Naya Pakistan’,” ....

Sindh population is 61m: CM Challenges 2017 headcount of 47.8m, demands more share for province Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah: SCREEN GRAB KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Wednesday said that census of 2017 was incorrect as it shows population of the province at 47.8 million whereas as per Unicef survey, it stands at 61.04 million. If the population of the province is counted at 61.04 million, the share of the province in the national resources would go up from about 24 per cent to 29 per cent, he said while addressing a press conference at CM House. He was accompanied by provincial ministers Nasir Shah, Taimur Talpur and Murtaza Wahab. ....
