Back to Ski Week here on ‘the four’ is about to wrap up, but before you head off to the slopes, here are even more ideas to get the most out of our Northern Michigan winter.

Caberfae Peaks in Cadillac is officially kicking off their ski season on Friday, December 18 at 12 PM. As we wrap up ‘Back to Ski Week’, we are switching gears to talk about, well… gear. The latest
and great ski gear to be exact. Jon Holmes from Bill & Paul’s Sporthaus in Grand Rapids shows off their inventory, and how you can be cruising down the slopes in luxury.

As of now, outdoor dining is allowed in Michigan. Obviously, this became a little harder for area restaurants to do due to Michigan’s cold and bitter weather this time of year. Pete Meyer from Caberfae says that they came up with a way for their visitors to stay cozy while enjoying some food and rest before and after hitting the slopes. “Our outdoor deck remodel has always been on our wishlist to complete, and with the current restrictions, it pushed us to get it done,” said Meyer. “It’s going to provide an environment where skiers can sit and we can serve them food and drinks, since we can’t currently do it inside”. Right now, they have two fire pits and four heaters on the deck. “They are located conveniently right off the pub, and skiers can just ski right up to it”. No matter what age you are, it’s never too late to learn one of Michigan’s favorite winter pastimes. “Our programs appeal to different demographics like the Learn to Ski program,” said Pete Meyer from Caberfae Peaks. “An instructor just breaks it all down. It’s kind of intimidating to come up for the first time. You don’t know where to go, you don’t know how to get your rental gear, you don’t know where to get your lesson and how to get on the lifts. This breaks it all down simplifies it”. Some skiers that get over that first hill of intimidation, instantly fall in love with the sport.
