Kim O'Neill hired as the new vice president for University Advancement and CEO of the WWU Foundation


Dear WWU Community,
Following a nationwide search, I am pleased to announce that Kim O’Neill will join Western Washington University as our new Vice President for University Advancement and CEO of the WWU Foundation effective July 1. Kim currently serves as Associate Vice President of Advancement at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, a position she has held since September 2019. The start date provides considerable overlap for transition with Stephanie Bowers, who will be retiring after 20 years of exemplary service to Western at the end of summer.
In her current capacity, Kim leads a team of fundraisers who share an annual goal of raising $100 million in each of the last two fiscal years at Texas Tech. In addition to leading the team, she has also been personally responsible for facilitating more than $44 million that includes public-private partnerships, naming of a school, and a challenge grant to address racial equity during her time at Texas Tech. BELLINGHAM, Wash. (AP) Western Washington University in Bellingham will require students, staff and faculty to be vaccinated against COVID-19 when in-person classes start again this fall.
University President Sabah Randhawa made the announcement Wednesday, The Bellingham Herald reported.
Randhawa said the decision was endorsed by the school’s board of trustees at a special meeting in the belief that it will protect the health and safety of the community on- and off-campus and speed the return to more normal in-person operations. ....

Western President Sabah Randhawa announced Wednesday in a statement that Western Washington University will require COVID-19 vaccinations for students, faculty and staff before returning to classes this fall.
The decision comes after universities - such as the University of Washington, Washington State and more - required the COVID-19 vaccine for students before returning to classes this fall.
Randhawa said the decision was based on guidance from the governor’s office, with the expectation that vaccine supply will continue to be available to everyone. ....

BELLINGHAM Western Washington University will require students, staff and faculty to be vaccinated against COVID-19 when in-person classes resume in fall.
WWU President Sabah Randhawa made the announcement at the university’s website.
“This decision was endorsed by the WWU board of trustees at a special meeting on Wednesday, May 5, in the belief that it will protect the health and safety of the community on- and off-campus and speed our return to more normal in-person operations,” Randhawa said.
Requests for religious, personal and medical exemptions will be handled on an individual basis in accordance with WWU’s policy on measles vaccination, he said. ....
