Ambassador: Porto summit could be 'watershed moment' for EU-India relations

The Porto summit this weekend could be a “watershed moment” for EU-India relations to push for stronger health cooperation in the context of the pandemic, enhanced cooperation on trade and investment, and a partnership on connectivity, the country’s envoy to Brussels, Santosh Jha, told EURACTIV in an interview ahead of the EU-India leaders meeting on Saturday (8 May).
Santosh Jha is the ambassador of India to Belgium, Luxembourg and the EU.
He provided written answers to questions by EURACTIV’s Alexandra Brzozowski and Georgi Gotev ahead of of the EU-India Leaders meeting on Saturday (8 May).

Several European Union (EU) member states have teamed up to assist India as it deals with the Covid crisis by sending oxygen Concentrators, oxygen generators, remdesivir, and ventilators. The member states are sending supplies to India under the EU Civil Protection Mechanism that was activated to send the assistance.

New Delhi: Several European Union (EU) member states have teamed up to assist India as it deals with the covid crisis by sending Oxygen Concentrators, Oxygen Generators, Remdesivir, Ventilators. The member states are sending supplies to India under the EU Civil Protection Mechanism that was activated to send the assistance. As per an official statement issued by the EU, India had placed a request for support through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism, which is coordinated by the Emergency Response Coordination Centre of the European Commission.

Bihar Police on Wednesday arrested Pravin Jha alias Ravan for allegedly killing five members of a Rajput family in the state’s Madhubani district on March 29, reviving memories of caste conflicts that were common in the state till even two decades ago.
Jha, 30, who was captured on Wednesday from Nepal, was heading a private armed force called Ravan Sena, said Darbhanga range inspector general of police Ajitabh Kumar. The conflict, ostensibly over fishing rights, is believed to be the flash point in a simmering dispute between two upper castes, Brahmins and Rajputs. ....
