The footfall at OPDs in major hospitals has significantly dwindled BHUBANESWAR: The rise in coronavirus cases has impacted the flow of non-Covid patients to hospitals. Fearing infection, many are skipping their monthly or follow-up check-ups and visits to hospitals and doctors feel it may lead to further complications. Besides, elective surgeries have been stopped or delayed in most hospitals due to the Covid situation which may end up in dragging many patients to emergencies. Satya Narayan Parida, 62, a diabetic with microvascular complications, did not visit the hospital for the last two months for regular check-ups. “Since hospitals are major points of spreading infections and I am suffering from comorbidities, I am afraid to go to the hospital. Though I am consulting my doctor over phone, it is not satisfactory,” said Parida, who is suffering from diabetic retinopathy. ....
