By Chantal Wagner In order to try and keep as much plastic out of the landfill as possible, South Country Co-op is encouraging shoppers to bring in their reusable bags. And by being earth-friendly, local community groups and organizations will benefit. Marketing & Community Relations Manager Carmen Hudson says they will donate 3 cents for each reusable bag used per transaction. Here in Medicine Hat, our Ronald McDonald House will benefit. By shopping in Taber, their District Health Foundation will receive those donations. And the Vauxhall Public Library will also benefit from shopping at their local Co-op. Hudson says the program originally started in October of 2019 but was then put on hold in March of last year due to the pandemic. ....
Dec. 21, 2020 Mayor Curt Balzano Leng is pleased to announce that the partnership between the Town of Hamden, Cornell Scott-Hill Health Center (CSHHC), Hamden Public Schools, and Quinnipiack Valley Health District will offer indoor COVID-19 testing at the Hamden Board of Education Building at 60 Putnam Avenue. Testing will take place in the gymnasium 8:30am to 4:30pm on Tuesday, 12/22 and Tuesday, 12/29, and every Tuesday and Thursday beginning on Tuesday, January 5. This new testing program follows a series testing events over the summer at Hamden High School and the Keefe Community Center. Testing is free of charge and is made possible through funding from the State of Connecticut Department of Social Services. Services are offered on a first come/first serve basis; no appointment or physician order is required. Testing will be available to all members of the community age 3 months and older, including people who do not have symptoms of COVID-19. No appointment or p ....
