What a year. Right? Due to obvious circumstances cough COVID cough and being largely kept in a state of quarantine, the records (in a tangible sense) did not flood in this year. I can count the total on two hands and have a decent percentage of those 10 fingers left after the counting is done.
That said, the digital format still saw some ample action. Being a dinosaur, this was part of the pain I endured as my collective 2020 experience. I am, as many know, not a digital dude as it pertains to music. I like to hold it. I like to figure out where I’m going to keep in the walls of my music hoarding palace. To the delight of my wife, the walls didn’t close in too much tighter this year, as the majority of the music I fielded lives in the cloud(s).

Dan Blakeslee to celebrate Christmasland Jubilee Dec. 19 at Stone Church

You know what we could all use right about now? Something to feel good about. Something that brings a smile to our face, and some pep to our step. Something with spirit. Something with hope. Something to call in the holiday season, and call out the year that’s been 2020.
Who better to deliver all of the above than Dan Blakeslee? He signs off his last correspondence with me with, “be enchanted, stay enchanted.” And that’s a much more poignant statement than probably even he realizes. Sure, things have been dark. Things have been drab. But, there’s always light if you will it into your life. And the soundtrack to the light I’ve let into mine is the new holiday record from Mr. Dan, “Christmasland Jubilee.”
