Canton native Kimberlé W. Crenshaw was presented a Ruth Bader Ginsburg Award for Lifetime Achievement.
The honor came last week from the American Association of Law Schools Section on Women in Legal Education. It was presented during the group s annual meeting  this year s theme was The Power of Words.
Ginsburg was a U.S. Supreme Court justice from 1993 until her death last year at age 87.
The award is given annually to someone whose career has spanned at least 20 years.
The recipient should be someone who has impacted women, the legal community, the academy, and the issues that affect women through mentoring, writing, speaking, activism, and by providing opportunities to others, according to qualifications for the honor. ....
