Hong Kong floats doxxing laws that would let it force big tech to take down content

Proposed new amendments, detailed in a new paper [PDF], aim to make the practice explicitly illegal with changes to the Territory s Personal Data Privacy Ordinance (PDPO).
The amendments also seek to give Hong Kong s authorities the power to enforce content takedowns, which is needed because only two thirds of requests to platforms to remove doxxed content were successful.
Out of the total cases, 1460 were referred on to the police for violating section 64 of the PDPO, which the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data Block detailed as:
Under section 64(2) of the PDPO, a person will commit an offence if he discloses, irrespective of his intent, any personal data of a data subject obtained from a data user without the data user’s consent and the disclosure causes psychological harm to the data subject. ....

Rota legislative delegation struggles to convene

NEARLY five months into their term, the four members of the Rota Legislative Delegation have yet to agree on a set date for an informal meeting and the selection of a pro tempore presiding officer.
Prior to any organizational session, a chair pro tempore must be chosen to officially call the delegation to order and conduct the session, which will then elect the delegation chair and other delegation officers as well as adopt the official rules of the delegation.
The delegation consists of Rep. Donald M. Manglona, Sens. Victor B. Hocog, Teresita A. Santos, and Paul A. Manglona.
The Manglonas are aligned with the Democrats while Hocog is a Republican and Santos is an Independent who usually votes with the GOP. ....
