TOKYO While the U.S. government has officially deemed China s oppression of Uyghurs in the Xinjiang region a genocide, the Japanese government has taken a cautious stance toward making such a declaration.
The question of whether the Chinese government s actions in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region (XUAR) fall under genocide the destruction of an ethnic or religious group through mass killings, moves to harm and prevent births of members and other such acts has been a major theme disputed in the international community. China, Pakistan, Cuba elected to UN Human Rights Council

Countries that have engaged in religious freedom violations, such as China, Russia, Pakistan and Cuba, have been elected by the United Nations General Assembly to the 47-member U.N. Human Rights Council, drawing criticism from human rights groups. 
On Tuesday, the 193-member General Assembly elected 15 countries to serve on its premier body for protecting human rights worldwide for there-year terms. The council not only proposes resolution on human rights issues but also oversees investigations into violations of religious freedom.  ....

Government to limit UK business exposure to Xinjiang human rights issues
The UK Government has unveiled a new package of measures aimed at ensuring that British organisations aren t benefitting from human rights violations linked to the abuse of the Uyghur Muslims in Xinjiang.

The new measures are designed to ensure that British organisations, public or private, don’t financially benefit from the current human rights abuses reported in China. The nation has faced global criticism from all major governments over the alleged persecution of Uighurs, who are a Muslim minority group mainly located in the Xinjiang province. ....
